In 2016, an accidental fire broke out in a flammable product warehouse on a Sevilla industrial site, resulting in some parts of the warehouse being burned down. The 90 tons of flammable products retained in the warehouse have a high risk of combustion (silane hydrogen risk), and the damaged roof exposes asbestos.
With the support of two subcontracting companies, CURIUM has conducted product and risk registration, developed a storage evacuation plan, designed and tested specific tools and operating procedures, and completed decontamination and waste packaging work.
The job responsibilities and stages include:
Stability and safety will affect the structure of buildings;
Dismantle the unstable fiber cement board on the roof;
Safely remove the swollen bucket from the unstable collapse without any leakage or spillage;
Transfer liquid, paste or crystalline products from damaged barrels to intact ADR barrels, sometimes under two-phase conditions;
Cutting and disposing of contaminated empty packaging;
Decontaminate undamaged tools and packaging in adjacent areas;
Surface cleaning;
Report the progress of the project on a daily or timely basis.
440 barrels of waste were repackaged throughout the entire project period; 2500 types of packaging were cleaned and decontaminated (220L drums, 20L drums, 1000L medium bulk containers, SAFRAP cans). During this process, a total of 115 tons of asbestos waste and 90 tons of chemical waste were packaged, transported, and disposed of.
